Carrots: biology out-earned a fumigant

A commercial carrot grower applied Bioprime at 50 L/ha and measured the result against the conventional program. Late yield rose 13%, worth $3,200/ha after the cost of product — and it displaced a metham sodium fumigation costing $1,600/ha.

“The late yield increase of 13% in the 50 L/ha Bioprime treatment gives an increase of $3,200 per hectare after subtracting the cost of Bioprime. Considering the alternative cost of metham sodium at $1,600 per hectare, the net ROI increase was $4,800 per hectare.”

Wheat: eight replicated trials, independently run

Eight replicated field trials across three Western Australian sites, contracted to independent trials group Living Farm, with the Liebe Group at Buntine and the West Midlands Group at Moora. Responses ranged from +4% to +24% depending on site, season and timing. We publish the inconclusive result alongside the rest.

Less product, more yield: the rate finding

Across the trial programme, the lower application rate out-performed the higher one: 3 L/ha returned +24% against +14% for 6 L/ha. Splitting the dose — 3 L/ha at two weeks, repeated at six — beat a single application again. Every seed-treated plot out-yielded its control.

“The lower application rates of Bioprime (3 l/ha) produced the best yield with a 24% increase compared to 6 l/ha producing 14% increase. Double application produced a higher yield than a single application.”

Onions: packout, not just tonnage

From the granted international patent, examined and public. Beds treated after sowing and again four weeks later produced markedly more marketable weight — and far less waste. Unmarketable produce fell from a quarter of the harvest to almost none.
